Glaslyn Ale Wins Gold at CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain National Final

Purple Moose Brewery is proud to announce that Cwrw Glaslyn / Glaslyn Ale has won Gold in the Session Bitter category at the CAMRA Champion Beer of Britain national final.

The award marks a very special moment for Glaslyn Ale, one of our long-standing cask ales brewed here in Porthmadog, North Wales.

What makes the win even more meaningful is that it comes exactly 19 years after Glaslyn first won category Gold in the very same competition. Nearly two decades later, the recipe remains unchanged, and Glaslyn is still being recognised for the quality, flavour and character that made it a favourite in the first place.

Same Recipe, Same Quality, Now Gluten Free

Glaslyn Ale is still brewed to the same trusted recipe as it was 19 years ago. The only difference today is that Glaslyn, along with our full cask ale range, is now gluten free.

For us, this award is a brilliant reminder that our gluten free development has not changed what people love about our beers. Glaslyn remains every bit as balanced, drinkable and characterful as ever.

It is also a proud moment for our brewing team, who continue to brew beers with the same care, consistency and quality today as they did 19 years ago.

A Champion Session Bitter from North Wales

Glaslyn Ale is a golden session bitter inspired by the stunning Glaslyn valley, close to our home here in Eryri / Snowdonia.

At 4.2% ABV, it is a bright, easy-drinking cask ale with the balance and depth expected from a classic session bitter. This latest CAMRA award adds another proud chapter to the story of one of Purple Moose Brewery’s most enduring beers.

Thank You

A huge thank you to CAMRA, the judges, our brewers and entire team, and everyone who has enjoyed a pint of Glaslyn over the years.

We are incredibly proud to see Glaslyn recognised on the national stage once again.
